Brief:
Curtin’s shipyard team sent a crew of welders, welder apprentices, and laborers to Marine Group Boat Works in Chula Vista, CA. While Marine Group’s crew handled all surface prep and coatings systems, our crew of ABS-certified welders worked to crop and renew over 10,000 lbs of wasted steel, including internal bulkheads, internal structural members, and hull plating. In addition to completing this project on schedule, our weld crew also trained and promoted 2 laborers to welders in the process! The Kelly C’s drydocking is an excellent example of Curtin’s shipyard team’s capabilities and a success story of our training programs.
