Curtin Maritime equipment and crews responded to a call that the 130’ tall ship Pilgrim had sunk in Dana Pt. Harbor; the vessel was built in 1945. Our derrick barge Salta Verde initially responded and provided crane support while a salvage company attempted to float the vessel. Unfortunately, salvage efforts were unsuccessful so we brought in another one of our crane barges Salta Verde was replaced by DB Ironbound. Our Lima 2400 crane and clamshell bucket made quick work of disposing of the wreck into one of our hopper barges where it was transported back to Long Beach, Ca. for disposal.
